How To Propose ON The Oregon Coast
Ready to get engaged.. but not sure how?
Welcome to Pelirrojo Productions!
Planning a proposal can feel like a lot. You want it to be romantic, memorable, and personal, but also not overly complicated or stressful. The good news is that a great proposal does not have to be complicated at all.
You just have to do a little planning and work on your “On One Knee Form”
I created this guide to help walk you through the process, from location selection, how to keep it a secret, and making sure you have a photographer in place to capture their excitement when they say “YES!!"
Step 1: Keep it Intimate
The number one concern that I have from my clients, when they are getting ready to propose… Will there be a ton of people around?
I can’t tell you how important this one is to me.. hence why it is Number 1 on our list. I’ve never been one for big crowds and making things into a giant production. To me, a proposal is supposed to be intimate and about the connection between two people. You’re literally asking your person to spend the rest of their life with you. That is not something you should do in front of a thousand people.
I don’t usually plan out proposals with a big display. I keep it simple with a bouquet of flowers in a secluded location. The backdrop of the Oregon Coast speaks for itself here. Maybe this is a HOT TAKE, but there are plenty of other ways to make your proposal special for your person without a 10ft glowing heart in the middle of Cannon Beach.
Step 2: Pick Your Location
The Oregon Coast is HUGE! You have so many option to pick from. Here are some things to think about when you’re choosing.
Part of the reason why my clients hire me is to help give them a local’s perspective on the area. I spend a lot of time outside exploring this place, and I have a long list of cool places that aren’t your typical tourist trap.
If you’re looking to avoid people, there are a couple things you can do to have the best shot at keeping things low-key.
Propose On A Weekday
This can be a tough one to plan around work, but if you can make it happen, you’ll be glad you did. I like to plan out my proposals around sunset for the best photos, but a lot of places are filled with people that time of day. Choosing a weekday really limits the amount of people and gives you the opportunity to catch the best light of the day.
Sunrise & Early Mornings
Sunrise is an even better time of day to avoid the crowds and catch amazing light for photos. You still get that beautiful golden hour glow, and you beat all of the people who are still in bed sleeping the day away.
Step 3: The Bouquet
My number 1 secret to making your proposal stress free (mostly) and memorable
I’ve been doing this for a while now, and another thing that always gets confusing is finding the exact spot to propose in a beautiful location.
You’re worried about popping the question, if you remembered to put the ring in your pocket, if your photographer is watching, and above all, if they are going to say yes!
I can’t help with the ring or them saying yes, but I can help with the rest. When you book a proposal with me, you’re going to have a beautiful bouquet of flowers waiting for you in the exact location where you should propose.
This Does Two Things
First, you know exactly where to drop to a knee. No guessing, just simple and clean direction. Show up to the spot, drop to a knee, and make it happen dude!
Second.. you know that I am watching. I will watching your every move through my camera, creating some incredible content for you to announce to your family and friends that you’re going to lock down the love of your life!
Step 4: The Photographer
This is a big moment for the two of you. My job is to record it without spoiling the surprise.
I love shooting weddings and elopements, but to be honest, there is nothing more exciting and adrenaline pumping that watching two people get engaged.
I learned as a kid that I am really good at Hide & Seek. It’s a talent that has paid off in this profession, and I take full advantage of my sweet ninja skills. I’ll be in the bushes, behind a rock, or camouflaged in the grass to make sure your partner doesn’t know what is going on.
INCOGNITO MODE ACTIVATED
As for your options of content, I offer both photo and video packages. I think you deserve to have amazing photos that you can print out and hang on your wall to see every day, but who doesn’t love a good movie?
Proposals are exciting, dramatic and make for some incredible content, so why not turn that into a badass movie trailer as a teaser for your upcoming wedding? Check this one out below!

Here’s a little about me
I live in Lincoln City, Oregon and spend as much time as possible outside. I love to surf, explore the world and take on all of life’s great adventures.
I used to live in Mexico, which gave me the opportunity to become bilingual. It also gave me a serious love for good mexican food, an addiction to single origin coffee, and a love for different cultures!
I have a passion for photography and videography, and I’m lucky to be able to do this for a living. Fill out my contact form by clicking the link below and lets get to planning!
