Planning a proposal

on the Oregon Coast

is a once-in-a-lifetime moment.

As an Oregon Coast proposal photographer based in Lincoln City, I help plan and capture proposals while keeping your secret safe for the big day.

I provide location guidance, flowers, and above all, excellent communication.

Every detail is handled so you can focus entirely on the big moment.

The Process

Planning a proposal can feel overwhelming. My role is to make it simple, discreet, and seamless from start to finish.

1. Choose Your Date
We start by selecting a date then narrow down timing based on your plans.

2. Select the Perfect Location
I recommend proposal locations across Lincoln City, Newport, Depoe Bay, and the Oregon Coast based on scenery, accessibility, and privacy.

3. Plan the Details
We communicate a lot leading up to the proposal. I coordinate positioning, timing, and flowers so everything is ready.

4. The Proposal
I arrive early, plant the flowers so you know exactly where to propose. When the moment happens, I capture the proposal, without interrupting the experience.

5. After They Say “Yes!”
Once the surprise settles, we capture additional photos and video, keeping it relaxed and fun.

Tyler was the absolute best! I’m from FL and it was my first time in Oregon, all I had was the idea to propose to my girlfriend and Tyler brought all of my ideas to life. Not only did he take photos but he helped me pick a location, got flowers for me and placed certain things where they needed to be.

During the shoot, he just let us have fun while also directing us to pose etc. He truly went above and beyond, we are so grateful. Tyler told us the pictures would be back to us in about a week but not even 3 days after our engagement we got all of them back! Thank you Tyler you brought my vision to life and made my fiancé happier than ever!!

I can’t thank Tyler enough for capturing our proposal. Everything about it was beautiful, the pictures look straight out of a movie, the views were everything.
He made us feel very comfortable and asked us if the poses we were doing were okay. Every time I look at our pictures I relive the beautiful moment. Thank you for capturing this beautiful moment once again! 🤍🥹
Tyler is amazing, we highly recommend him!

Nicolas & Jasmine | Daytona, Florida

Nic reached out to me in October through the contact form on my website, asking me to take photos of him proposing to his girlfriend Jasmine, during their trip to Lincoln City, Oregon in November.

He had designed a ring and was planning to propose somewhere on the beaches of the Oregon Coast. They already had the flights booked, and he was anxiously trying to plan out the best way to pop the question without his girlfriend catching on to anything.

Communication with Nic had to be discreet, and keeping this a surprise was our top priority. We decided that we would handle most of the communication through his mom’s phone, so that his girlfriend would have no clue this was going to happen. I sent several location ideas over to his mom - shoutout to Cathy - and then gave him the breakdown of the tides, waves and weather concerns for each area. The Oregon Coast is unpredictable at best, and having a back up plan is a must!

A proposal Story

Location is so important

The view needs to be great, and access needs to be seamless!

The Prep

Nic and I talked about what he had in mind for the proposal, and came up with some ideas that would fit the vibe of the relationship he shared with Jasmine. He wanted something EPIC in terms of scenery, but also something that was somewhat secluded and away from large crowds.

The great part about being a local on the Oregon Coast is that I spend all of my freetime exploring this incredible place - so I know a few spots!

Once Nic had thoroughly looked over his options, we eventually landed on The Cliffs in Depoe Bay - just about 20 minutes south of their AirBnB in Lincoln City. The perfect blend of seclusion, coastal drama, and epic views!

One hell of a view right?

The Plan

The proposal was set to take place on the last day of Nic and Jasmine’s trip. Luckily, the weather was lining up perfectly for a super moody Oregon Coast proposal. Exactly how I like them!

Nic and I talked multiple times over the new few weeks, exchanging ideas and making sure that the details were going to all fall into place. I was impressed with the amount of work he was willing to put in to make this a truly special proposal that Jasmine would never forget!

Every proposal is different, but something I have found helpful is to mark the spot of the proposal with a bouquet of flowers. It’s simple and super effective. Some people go all out for the big MARRY ME letters, rose petals and a red carpet… but that’s impossible to keep discreet. Nic knew exactly where to drop to a knee, and more importantly, he knew that I would be watching.

The Big Day

The day of the proposal arrived. I was getting ready to make the drive to Depoe Bay, when Nic’s mom, Cathy, called me. Their rental car had a flat tire and they were still waiting on a repair! We still had several hours until the proposal, but we quickly came up with a backup plan just in case things didn’t work out. About an hour before Nic & Jasmine needed to be on the road, their rental car was fixed and everything fell back into place. I can only imagine the panic that was running through Nic’s mind that morning!

I got to the spot early with the flowers and marked the spot for Nic, then found my hiding place. The rain had stopped right as I arrived, and things were lining up perfectly.

Just like we had planned, Nic shared his location with me once he hit the road. I watched him drive down Highway 101 and make the turn into the access point for The Cliffs. Camera in hand and the bouquet of flowers marking the spot, I sat and waited for him to show up. They walked down the stairs hand in hand, headed straight for the cliff.

Day of: Communication

The most important part of the entire process!

The Proposal

As they walked towards the flowers, I could see the excitement on Nic’s face. He had planned the entire trip from the other side of the country and it had all fallen into place perfectly. It was a total surprise, and Jasmine had no idea what was happening.

He dropped to a knee - with perfect form - and began to read a letter he had written to her. With a gold band from his grandmother’s ring, a gorgeous new diamond, and all the love they had created in their relationship, he asked her to marry him.

It was no surprise that she said “YES!” I’ve been a part of many proposals at this point, but sometimes you just know when two people are meant to be together. Jasmine was ecstatic, and Nic was looking up at the love of his life, with the most incredible backdrop he could have imagined right behind her.

He had pulled off the perfect proposal.

Have some questions?

  • Yes! I have packages for just photo, or to include video. I always film behind the scenes content for my sessions, but creating a highlight film takes a lot more time… and is way cooler… but I like to offer the option to fit all budgets. What is important is putting your time and effort into the proposal. Make it special!

  • Getting started is simple. Reach out through our contact form to schedule a call—I’ll walk you through the next steps and answer any questions along the way.

  • I have a huge amount of respect and admiration for other creators in this area. In fact, I am friends with quite a few of them!

I focus on bringing my best to every session. My goal is to be the best photographer and videographer out there. Hopefully others see the passion I put behind my word. Come find out for yourself!

  • I can’t speak to other photographers ways, but what I can tell you is that I put my heart and soul into every session. I chose this career very specifically. I love what I do.

As for my content, I try to bring the highest quality service I can to everything I do. I noticed a huge gap in the proposal world and wanted to fill that. Elopements quite often involve video, but I wanted to make that accessible for proposals as well. I think it really helps tell your story, especially because family and friends aren’t usually involved in proposals.

  • By far the best way to reach me is to fill out my contact form. This sends a notification to my phone, and we can start communicating via email.

I do this for two reasons.. First, it allows me to get in touch without interrupting important things you’re doing during the day. Second, and most importantly, proposals are usually something done without your partner knowing. So if I call you in the middle of a dinner date, or send you a text, most likely that’s not the most secretive way to do things. I want to make it a special day for both of you, so I do my best not to ruin the moment before it even happens!

  • My pricing can be found on the pricing page of this website, but here is another breakdown.

I offer premium services to clients looking for a premium experience. I wouldn’t classify myself as a budget photographer. I do try and offer packages that are accessible to most people.

If you’re looking to keep cost down, my Photo Only packages are a perfect fit! If you’re looking for the best experience possible, book my Hybrid Photo/Video package and lets make something truly incredible!

  • I am probably one of the most non-formal dudes you’re ever going to meet. I like to think of my clients as friends who are trusting me to make their proposals go off without a hitch.

I will support you from start to finish. Need help picking out flowers? I gotchu. Need help designing a ring? Been there, done that.

I know you’re nervous. It’s my job to help you make this moment something really special to experience with your partner. I will do whatever I can to roll with the punches, and be flexible wherever possible.

  • I’m so glad you asked!

After you pay your retainer and sign your contract, we lock in a location for you to propose. I like to go on grand adventures, but if that isn’t your style, I have several easy to access locations we can use that keep it simple so you can focus on not falling over during your big moment.

The morning of your proposal, I go to pick up flowers. I like to use local florists because their quality is the best.

I will share my location with you and I will get your location as well. We will have talked about this via a phone call prior to the big day so that nothing is a surprise.

Communication on the day of your proposal is limited, mostly so I'm not blowing up your phone while you’re trying to keep things a secret.

I arrive at the location before you to get set up. I place the flowers in a location that is easy to see, so you know exactly where to go. This serves two purposes…

First, it shows you where you need to go so you arent’ wandering around aimlessly.

Second, it lets you know that I am there and watching (videoing/taking photos.)

You pick up the flowers and hand them to your partner. Then you drop to a knee, pull out that awesome ring you spent so much time thinking about, pop the question… and BOOM you’re engaged!

  • Literally everywhere.

I am based in Lincoln City, OR. I very frequently travel to different cities up and down the coast, into the Portland area, and all throughout Oregon.

I also travel out of state and internationally. For me, the further I am away from home, the more epic of an adventure it is. I love to travel, and I am 100% down to help you plan out an incredible destination proposal.
