Looking For a Lincoln City Photographer?
Why You Should Book a Lincoln City Photographer
Crashing Waves | Soaring Views | Epic Hikes
When I think about the Oregon Coast, I imagine paradise that is injected with lots of drama. The PNW is well known for its opportunity for adventure, incredible scenery and moody vibes. Lincoln City is at the heart of that. You know what makes it even better? Finding a local photographer that knows all the best spots to take you!
Hi! My name is Tyler, and I’m a Lincoln City Photographer!
I specialize in couples portraits, proposals, weddings and elopements. Basically, I take photos of madly in love couples who love adventurous, dramatic photos in nature!
I spend most of my time climbing over big rocks on the beach, and wandering through the forest, usually with my dog and camera in tow.
My Top 4 Photo Spots in Lincoln City
Here is a short list of locations you should check out.
God’s Thumb | The Knoll| Road’s End | Drift Creek Falls
I spend a lot of time wandering around this area, on both professional and personal adventures. I know the “Local Spots” and how to access them, how to read the tide and waves, and how to get the most epic shots at each location!
Here are my not so secret, secrets…
God’s Thumb
If you are an avid scroller of Oregon Coast reels, there is no doubt that you’ve come across God’s Thumb content at one point or another.
I could give you the AllTrails breakdown, but that’s way too specific for my taste. I like to think I’m fairly in shape, but the truth is, I really like good food… so my cardio is not exactly impressive. For me, from the start of the trailhead to the tip top of God’s Thumb, it is about a 1hr 15min trek.
The link below will get you to my preferred access point to start your hike. Be prepared for a serious uphill battle to start it off though. Your legs will be screaming for a break by the end of the first section, but after that it mellows out a bit. Once you get past the main elevation gain, you’ll find yourself walking through flower filled meadows, picking blackberries and raspberries off the bushes, and end your hike with one of the most EPIC views on the entire Oregon Coast!
Pro Tip: Wear good shoes. This trail is particularly muddy and full of clay. If it rains, or has been raining recently… you will fall flat on your face if you wear Converse. Good hiking tread is a MUST!
The Knoll
Welcome to the less strenuous, more accessible version of God’s Thumb… God’s Pinky shall we say?
I added this spot to the list, because it is an often overlooked option for hikes and photos in Lincoln City. It doesn’t get nearly as much attention as God’s Thumb, but it’s an amazing option if you aren’t looking for a long hike and don’t mind a quick uphill climb. The risk/reward is huge on this one.
This is the exact same access point as the one I sent you to for God’s Thumb. After about 15 or 20 minutes of good burning in your calves, you’ll see a trail that branches off to the left. About 50 steps later, you’ve arrived! If you are the type to pack a blanket, some food and a bottle of wine with you (nobody needs the glasses), you have just found yourself the most romantic picnic spot. Ideal for proposing thanks to the view of the coastline and all of Lincoln City… or if you’re going alone, some yoga, journaling or just general pondering should fit the occasion.
Road’s End
Welcome to my favorite beach. I am lucky enough to live just a couple of minutes from this incredible place, and it is my go to sunset beach walk spot. At first glance, it will probably look a lot like most of the beaches in Lincoln City… miles of sand and waves, with minimal obstacles to get in your way. But if you go allll the way to the end (like actual ***Road’s End), you will find a massive spike of rock shooting out of the ocean.
Most people don’t venture past this point. The waves look scary, and scrambling over boulders may seem daunting, but trust me it is worth it. You have just accessed a hidden gem that will transport you into a PNW Wonderland.
Perfect sandy beaches, massive black rocks, a view of God’s Thumb from below, crashing waves, and even a few starfish are all waiting for you to find them. This is one of my favorite photo locations, but it comes only with a solid understanding of the tides, swells and weather. You don’t want to get caught here once high tide rolls in, but if you happen to find yourself wandering Road’s End at Low Tide… you’ve found a gold mine!
Drift Creek Falls
Oregon is well known for her waterfalls and bridges. If you’re looking for a change of scenery and something a little outside of the typical sunset pictures on the beach though, this might just be the spot for you! About 15 miles outside of Lincoln City and a 40min drive down some windy roads, you’ll find this really easy in and out hike with a stomach dropping view from the middle of a suspension bridge next to a waterfall.
Make sure you hike all the way to the bottom and get up close and personal with the waterfall! You’ll find some amazing photo spots if you don’t mind getting a little wet.
This hike can be really popular during the summer and early fall, but the best time to see the water roaring over the edge is during the winter! Pack your umbrella and go for it!
The Oregon Coast is one of the most beautiful places in the world. If you’re looking to get couples photos, propose, elope, or have a micro wedding, I would love to help you along in the process and take you to some of these incredible locations.
So grab your hiking boots. We’ve got places to explore!
